Cablecast Sponsors Hometown Media Awards
Alliance of Community Media Celebrates PEG Producers, Cablecast’s Hometown TV Internet Channel Provides Streaming Home for Winning Projects
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, July 3, 2024 – Cablecast Community Media, a division of Tightrope Media Systems, sponsored the 2024 Hometown Media Awards on June 26, and is giving the winning videos a permanent, commercial-free home on its Hometown TV channel. The Hometown Media Awards program celebrates community media and community radio producers who share their messages with their local communities through Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access channels and Low Power FM Radio Stations (LPFM).
The Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media (FACM) honored more than 100 winners during its annual awards program, which was part of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) 2024 Annual Conference. A three-day event held in late June at the CreaTV facilities in San Jose, Calif., the national conference included over 30 sessions and 70 speakers. With more than 400 member organizations, the ACM protects and promotes community media nationwide.
“Local content is important, and we’re proud to continue supporting the inspiring work of PEG producers from across the country with our sponsorship of the Hometown Media Awards,” said Steve Israelsky, president, Cablecast Community Media. “As fewer and fewer people are subscribing to cable, streaming apps, and web-based content help these community media organizations reach viewers where they consume content. Hometown TV provides an online home for these award-winning projects that provides a platform for them to be enjoyed by even more viewers.”
Hometown TV is available as a public internet channel and through the free Cablecast Streaming App. Cablecast customers have access to Cablecast Internet Channels, a feature that lets you easily create an unlimited amount of turnkey video streaming sites, as well as Branded Streaming Apps that allow PEG channels to provide live streams and on-demand content for their viewers through Android and iOS mobile devices or via Apple TV®, Roku®, and Amazon Fire TV. Cablecast Internet Channels also include video accessibility features that meet the ADA’s new Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA standard that government agencies will be required to meet starting in Spring 2026.
