As the title sponsor of the 2023 Hometown Media Awards, Cablecast Community Media, a division of Tightrope Media Systems, will support the event and promote its winners nationwide with the launch of Hometown TV. Hometown TV will be viewable as a public internet channel and through the free Cablecast Streaming App.
The Hometown Media Awards is the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media's yearly awards program to promote and honor standout producers in community media and community radio who utilize Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access channels to get their message to their local community. Nearly one thousand entries are submitted each year, resulting in over 100 award winners. A panel of industry judges evaluates the entries, and awards are presented to the most creative programs that move viewers to experience television in a different way.
Those who are not attending the Hometown Media Awards ceremony in person will be able to download the Cablecast Streaming App to watch the ‘Hometown TV’ channel. The channel will host a live stream of the awards ceremony to be held on June 28, 2023, at BRIC Media Arts in Brooklyn, NY as a part of the 2023 Alliance for Community Media Annual Conference. All award-winners have also been invited to add their videos to the free video-streaming app where winners and fans alike will be able to stream the work.
"With Hometown TV, we're connecting a nationwide network of producers around a common love of hyper-local media," says Cablecast President, Steve Israelsky. "Hometown TV will allow winners and fans alike to watch and share the award-winning work on a platform that's free to download and that never puts ads on their content. We're proud to elevate this body of work and support the mission of the Foundation for the Alliance for Community Media."
